NetDescriptionsFacilities at the trailhead are an unloading area and plenty of parking space. Meadow Creek Cutoff Trail begins as a road, but soon changes to a trail and begins switchbacking up the hill. The climb lasts for about three miles than levels off for the last mile where outstanding views of the countryside can be seen. This trail is used by hikers and horse users for access into the wilderness, but it can also be an enjoyable day hike. After following the trail a short distance from the trailhead it intersects an old logging road. Follow the road to the road block, where the trail takes off to the left. Most of the trail is a steady climb, following switchbacks to an open sidehill where the hiking becomes easier. At this point one can glimpse the Dry Creek Water Falls or hike down to them. The trail continues up to the Scapegoat Wilderness boundary with many campsites to choose from. The trail is in good shape and is blazed throughout. Length: 2.0 miles Trail Begins: Trail Junction 483 at Meadow Lake Trail Ends: Trail Junction 481 Area Map: Helena Forest Visitor Map USGS Map1: Olson Peak Township 16N; Range 9W; Section 18
