Private room offerings include an all-inclusive suite, a single private room, and a triple room, for 1-3 guests - both which share nearby kitchens and bathrooms. The entire house and our RV spot are able to accommodate 16 guests.

Shady Spruce is packed with amenities: cozy outdoor patio with BBQ, free Wifi, no curfew, cruiser bikes, 24 hour secure keyless code entry, 24 hour security surveillance, ample parking, off-street motorcycle parking, human powered bikes, bike maintenance area with tools, alpine sports equipment storage, secure lockers, two communal lounges, two fully equipped kitchens, and 3 and a half clean & well-appointed baths.
All hostel beds are comprised of cozy locally-sourced Twin XL mattresses with a soft or firm side. Bunks are equipped with personal LED reading lights and USB charging ports. Guests make their own beds using clean quality linens and towels provided by the hotel - no outside bedding, pillows, or towels are permitted at this hostel. Dishes, towels, AND bedding are managed on a day to day basis by hostel staff.
Guests also enjoy the convenience of staying seconds away from Missoula's most established restaurants, shops, theaters, parks, and trails. The Missoula Museum & Art Gallery, University campus, and Civic Centre facilities are within walking distance of the hostel. Additionally, multiple ski resorts, National Forest Service trailheads, Wilderness areas, and river systems are also just a short drive away from the heart of downtown. Missoula's International Airport and bus terminals can be reached by car, bus, or taxi within minutes.
The Shady Spruce Hostel mission concentrates on the perpetual reduction of our carbon footprint AND overall elimination of negative environmental/human impact. Management readily evaluates, measures, and communicates progress of impact-reduction programming with interested community members through its webpage and social media outlets. We go so far as to offer free-trade coffee/tea, a guest recycling center, state of the art HVAC systems, water conservation fixtures and appliances, LED lighting, enviro-safe laundry processing, on-site composting, organic free-trade soaps, 100% recycled paper products, and phosphate/sulphate-free plant-based cleaning supplies.
