NetDescriptionsWelcome to Old Butte Historical Adventures! Established in 2004 by a small group of local historians and property owners working together to preserve and display the colorful history of Butte, Montana - 'The Richest Hill on Earth' - we offer family friendly walking tours of this wild era from the outside of buildings to the inside of historic uptown Butte. The Tours cover every decade from the 1890s through the 1950s. Gold, silver and finally copper brought Butte's population to nearly 100,000 in 1917, with over 150 underground mines running 24 hours a day. Today there are numerous reminders of the opulence, decadence, and wild lifestyles of poor European immigrants, miners, businessmen and of course the wealthy 'Copper Kings.' Join us to revisit this rough-and-ready history! Our Tours are WALKING tours with NO handicapped accommodations. There are numerous steps, and the elevation is a mile high in Butte. Please consider these facts before starting out on our tours. Old Butte Historical Adventure Tours offers three different tours and are available throughout the year, reservations are recommended. All tours are approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. The City Underground Tour: this includes the Roaring 20's Rookwood Speakeasy, a replica of a 1950's Barber Shop, and the Old City Jail. East Walking Tour: includes visits to the Finlen Hotel, Myra Brothel, Tony's Tin Shop, and the Cabbage Patch, plus extensive commentary on Butte history. Dellinger Walking Tour: explores Butte history in a single building, starting with 1938 Law Offices on the top floor, which were inaccessible until 2010, a basement containing artifacts and graffiti from 1899-1920, and a pre-1884 overpass across an alley accessing storage and sleeping rooms.
