NetDescriptionsThe O’Fallon Historical Museum is dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of the history, culture, and stories of Fallon County and the surrounding area. Baker, MT was founded in open range cattle country in 1908 and built by the influx of people for the railroad and homesteaders seeking an opportunity for a better life. Agriculture, followed by natural gas, and then oil production, provided the means for development in this rural setting on the eastern plains of Montana. Our exhibits cover the entire history of Fallon County, from all of this back to all the way back when dinosaurs roamed. Our museum is housed in six buildings, including an original 1916 one room schoolhouse and an original 1907 homestead. The anchor building is the original Fallon County Jail that was built in 1916 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Not to be missed is Fallon County’s own Steer Montana – the world’s largest steer at 3,980 pounds – who traveled to and amazed crowds in 42 states back in the Depression era, is a featured attraction. The Museum also includes a gift shop with local products as well as maps, brochures and visitor guides for travelers. Admission is FREE – we look forward to hosting you!
