<p>Kinsey is fifteen miles northeast of <a href="/categories/City.asp?CityID=225">Miles City</a> on the opposite side of the <a href="/categories/moreinfo.asp?SiteID=1&IDRRecordID=12352">Yellowstone River</a> from I-94. It was named for Mr. Kinsey a local rancher. (from Cheney's <I>Names on the Face of Montana</I>, Mountain Press Publishing Company) </p><P>Closeby, floaters find <a href="/categories/moreinfo.asp?SiteID=1&IDRRecordID=3108">Pirogue Island</a>, a 269 acre State Park. This Yellowstone River island covered with cottonwood trees is an excellent spot to view wildlife, envision the Corps of Discovery's travel along the river, and hunt for moss agates. The site is a haven for waterfowl, bald eagles, and whitetail and mule deer. Though there are no designated hiking trails, the site is level and easily walked throughout.</p> |
