When the post office was applied for, the name of Kiley was suggested to honor an old-time settler by that name, but the postal department changed it to Kila when the office was approved in 1901. (from Cheney's <I>Names on the Face of Montana</I>, Mountain Press Publishing Company)</p> <P><a href="/categories/moreinfo.asp?SiteID=1&IDRRecordID=3078">Lone Pine State Park</a> offers a self-guided nature trail and several informal <a href="/categories/moreinfo.asp?SiteID=1&IDRRecordID=5965">hiking trails</a>, as well as horse trails and an archery range. There are three scenic overlooks that provide views from Flathead Lake to <a href="/categories/moreinfo.asp?SiteID=1&IDRRecordID=39">Whitefish Mountain Resort</a>. One of the overlook trails is designed for the mobility impaired.
