| NetDescriptions | McGillivray Campground is located on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana at an elevation of 2,559 feet. The site is just 7 miles above Libby Dam and adjacent to Lake Koocanusa. This is the spot to get away from it all; something for everyone. There are 33 campsites near picnic shelters and a swimming beach at the lake. Fishing and boating are among the activities to be enjoyed. Amenities include potable water, vault toilets, swimming beach, pavilions and a fully developed boat ramp with dock. Pets are welcome, but must be leashed. The maximum recommended trailer length for the area is 32 feet. Please limit stay to 14 days. A fee is required for the use of this campground. For group reservations call 293-7773. Special attractions include: 90-mile-long Lake Koocanusa (KOOtenai/CANada/USA--coo/can/oosa), fishing access, high- and low-water boat ramps, swimming beach (no lifeguard), nature trail, group site with 12 covered picnic tables (electrical hookups available; picnickers supply own generator), sinks, large fireplace, flush toilets, fire places, covered kitchen, ample parking, horseshoe pits, softball field, hiking loop trail. |
