NetDescriptionsThis cabin is reservable from Oct 15 to April 15 yearly. Crystal Lake Cabin provides you an opportunity to rent a large, one room cabin accommodating up to 6 people in the Big Snowy Mountains of central Montana. Located about 20 miles south of Lewistown, the cabin is used during the summer by the local campground host, but becomes available to the public during the fall and winter. A nearby small lake offers some limited canoeing opportunities before winter sets in. There are numerous hiking opportunities around the cabins. The scenery is great, especially if you like to hike. In the winter you will need to either snowmobile in or ski in 6 miles to reach the facility. The cabin offers solitude after 1 December, when the adjacent Crystal Lake Campground is closed for the winter. There is no water, electricity, or sewer at the cabin. Firewood is provided for the wood stove and is for use only with the stove. Please refill the firewood box before you leave. Visitors must clean the cabin and police the grounds prior to departure. Nightly fee for the cabin is $25 for up to 14 consecutive nights. The road to the cabin is gated after December 1, after which access is limited to snowmobile, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing to travel the last approximately 6 miles. This road can be snowed in as early as September, and is not plowed. Keys must be picked up during normal working hours Monday-Friday 8 AM to 4:30 P.M. at Lewis and Clark National Forest offices in Stanford, Great Falls, Belt Creek, White Sulphur Springs, Harlowton, Choteau, or Augusta.
