NetDescriptionsGateway Boat Camp is located in Kootenai National Forest at an elevation of 2,460 feet. his boat camp is accessible by boat (must be beached), foot, or horseback only. It is not accessible to boats during reservoir drawdown. Check with the District Office for current update. There are 5 campsites. Drinking water is not available at the camp. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on leashes. Please limit your stay to 14 days. No camping fee. Located on 90-mile-long Lake Koocanusa, this site offers solitude in a natural forest setting for those seeking a beyond-the-norm camping experience. For those who come for sport, the lake is well known as a prime fishery for kookanee salmon.
