NetDescriptionsHighland Glen and Sunset Hills make up the core of in-town cross country skiing in Bozeman. Groomed by the nonprofit Bridger Ski Foundation on a regular basis, the trails provide both classic tracks and a skate lane, with stunning views of the mountains. Highland has 10 km of rolling terrain through fields, sagebrush, and low hills. It’s a great place to grab a ski in town with a rural feel, and it features both intermediate and expert terrain. (This is private land owned by the adjacent hospital, Bozeman Health, so please help us follow good trail etiquette and respect their rules.) Sunset Hills (formerly Lindley) provides a 3.8 km loop that winds up and down through a large field nestled between Lindley Park and the Hospital. A popular spot for a quick ski, it also is host to after-school lessons, as well as adult clinics, with the Bridger Ski Foundation’s thriving Nordic program. Please, no dogs, foot traffic, or bikes on the groomed trails at Highland Glen and Sunset Hills. (If you want to ski with your dog, try the dog loop off of Buttonwood Ave, Hyalite trails, or Sourdough trails.) This is part of the Community Nordic Trails System. Grooming is provided by the local nonprofit Bridger Ski Foundation, which grooms at six locations in Bozeman. To ensure open access, there is no daily fee for these trails. Instead, trail users are encouraged to purchase a voluntary trails pass from the Bridger Ski Foundation (online or at many of the local outdoor retailers in Bozeman) or donate to the trails program. All grooming is funded through grants, trail passes and donations. Grooming reports available online.
