NetDescriptionsForest Park is situated on 1.5 acres of a private wooded lot, surrounded by thousands of acres of State and Federal Forest Service land, in the Salish Mountain Range. One acre is fenced-in, so dogs can enjoy being a dog. This is a cross-country and downhill skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and birding paradise, with 80 different bird species noted in just the last three years. The Forest Park School House is the last, one-room, log school house in Flathead County. The school was built around 1912 and served the children of the Patrick Creek area until 1965, when Kalispell's, District 5 absorbed the Forest Park District. From 1965 until the late 70's the school was used for 4-H meetings and community gatherings. The Teacher's Cabin is a darling one-room, log rustic cabin that sleeps two, with it's own patio, veranda and covered out-door kitchen. The Teacher's Cabin is served by the original "girl's" outhouse and wilderness shower. The cabin is available June 1 through September 30, and beyond, depending on the weather. The large bonfire pit is great for cooking for a crowd or roasting marshmallows for two. There is a hot tub, horseshoes, hammock, volleyball, bat mitten, and croquet for your enjoyment. This is hiker/biker Heaven. The Foys to Blacktail, trail system can be accessed from across the road. The Forest Park, Teacher's Cabin is a great place for weddings, reunions, memorials, gatherings of all kinds; large and small. It's also a quiet, peaceful place to relax and re-energize. Flathead Lake (the largest fresh-water lake west of the Mississippi) is 5 miles from Forest Park. The northeast corner of Flathead Lake (14 miles) offers Bigfork - home of Bigfork Summer Playhouse, art galleries and several fine dining restaurants. Jewel Basin National Hiking Area is just minutes from Bigfork. The northwest corner of the lake is Somers with it's fine dining, beaches and boat launches and Lakeside, (12 miles) home of Blacktail Ski Area, which is a great, economical (as skiing gets)family ski hill. Please call about pets, a deposit is required.
