NetDescriptionsThe Northwest Montana History Museum lives in one of the few examples of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture that retain their original appearance. Kalispell's oldest public building, the facility debuted as a schoolhouse in 1895 for the nascent town, complete with hot and cold running water and electricity. The facility features exhibits that cover Northwest Montana Native American culture, Montana pioneer Frank Bird Linderman, regional industry, history and ecology of the Flathead Valley, Glacier National Park, and a display of photographs and text on the turn-of-the-century community of Demersville, Kalispell's precursor. The museum offers tours, programs on local history, a gift shop featuring made-in-Montana merchandise, a wide range of books for all ages, and performance and meeting rooms for rent. See our website for more.
