NetDescriptionsThe Fort Peck Theatre was built in 1934 as a temporary solution to entertaining the people who came to work in Fort Peck during the construction of one of the world's largest earth filled dams. In the late 1960's fearing that the Theatre would be destroyed, as were many of the town's original buildings, the Fort Peck Fine Arts Council (FPFAC) was formed to care for and utilize the building. Since that time the FPFAC has been producing reputable stage productions in addition to providing the venue for many other artistic performances. The Theatre was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Performances run from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Reserved seating is available by calling the box office at (406) 526-9943. General seating is available for most performances. Dress is casual. Curtain time is 7:30pm pm on Friday and Saturday and 4:00 pm on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at the Theatre box office the night of the show. Reserved seating is available for an additional $5 by calling the box office in advance. Each season's company is composed of professional actors and technicians along with many regional performers of all ages. The Fort Peck Theatre opened as a movie house on Friday, November 16, 1934 and ran movies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The adult admission price was 40 cents on the main floor and 30 cents in the balcony. Children attended for a dime. During this time, over 50,000 people lived in and around Fort Peck and an evening at the movies was a special event for young and old.
