NetDescriptionsYarnell Island is located on the Kootenai National Forest in northwest Montana, 21 miles northeast of Libby and approximately 3 miles north of Libby Dam on Lake Koocanusa. This site is accessible only by boat; during periods of drawdown from the Dam, one can walk to the island. Fishing may also be enjoyed at Yarnell Island. There are 8 campsites. Please limit your stay to 14 days. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on leashes. There are no facilities--the only restroom was destroyed by vandals and has not been replaced.
