NetDescriptionsOgden Mountain Trail is a very easy hike which follows the ridge line from Dalton Mountain to Ogden Mountain. The hike is through a closed canopy, with only glimpses of the Avon Valley. This is an excellent trail for family hiking. Access is also available from Trail 401. Beginning off Dalton Mountain Road 329 heading west, the trailhead may be somewhat obscure. Once you reach the top of the ridge turn right on an old unmarked logging road. Right after the first bend you will see a logging road unit. Follow the road into the logging unit for approximately 200 yards and you will the trailhead sign off to your right. You may want to walk into this area as the road may be in poor condition. Once at the trailhead, the trail should be no problem as long as you follow the Forest Service blaze marks. There are many game trails that may throw you off course so check for these blaze marks every once in a while especially about 2 miles (3.8 km) into the trail. When you reach the Lincoln View Road you can either head down Trail 401 and follow it out to a pre-arranged pick-up spot or turn around and hike back on Trail 404. Be sure to keep a lookout for deer or elk as this is a favorite spot for them in the summer time.
