NetDescriptionsIsaac Homestead State Wildlife Management Area is located in southeast Montana on the Yellowstone River. Fishing and boating may be enjoyed in the area. There is a boat launch for carry-in launching only. Management goal: To provide an interspersion of habitat types that enhances wildlife abundance, particularly white-tailed deer and ring-necked pheasants, and to provide recreational opportunities. Hunting opportunities: Hunting opportunities exist for waterfowl, upland gamebirds, and deer. Hunting pressure is quite high from time to time. Fishing opportunities: Fishing opportunities exist on about 5 miles of Yellowstone River frontage throughout the year. Wildlife viewing: White-tailed deer, upland gamebirds, furbearers, and numerous small mammals are present year-round; mule deer and antelope are seen occasionally. Canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, and mourning doves nest on the Wildlife Management Area while 16 other species of waterfowl, some shorebirds, raptors and about 100 species of songbirds can be found through much of the year.
